
The President of the Afenifere National Youth Council, Prince Eniola Joseph Ojajuni, who was kidnapped by unknown gunmen on Monday, February 17, has cried out to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Nigerian public to come to his aid as his abductors have threatened to kill him in 48 hours if a ransom of N100 million is not paid.
Ojajuni who made the desperate appeal in a video shared on social media on Friday, said the kidnappers are demanding N100 million for his release, and his family has called on Nigerians to contribute whatever they can.
In the 10 seconds video, the Afenifere youth leader, said he was suffering from gunshot injuries he sustained after the kidnappers shot him during the abduction.
Looking weak and in distress, Prince Ojajuni is heard saying:
His family has also joined the plea, urging Nigerians to contribute any amount to help in raising the ransom while his wife identified as Omolara Ojajuni, has also come out in public to solicit for donations.
In a plea message she put out on her social media platform, Mrs. Ojajuni said:
“No amount is too small to rescue Ojajuni.”
A statement by the National Secretary of the council, Abiodun Aderohunmu, who also confirmed the development, said the kidnappers of Prince Ojajuni have been in touch with the family and have vowed to kill him if the ransom is not pain within the stipulated time.
“The Afenifere National Youths Council is deeply saddened to announce the kidnapping of its National President, Prince Eniola Joseph Ojajuni, in Abuja, Nigeria. “The unfortunate incident occurred yesterday, and the kidnappers have demanded a ransom of N100, 000,000,” the statement said.
“During the kidnapping, Prince Ojajuni sustained a bullet wound on his buttock. We are deeply concerned about his safety and well-being, and we urge the kidnappers to release him unharmed.
“Prince Ojajuni is a prominent figure in Nigeria and a strong advocate for youth empowerment and development. We are calling on the federal government and security agencies to act swiftly for Ojajuni’s return while imploring Nigerians with useful information to assist,” it added.
