BREAKING: Spanish Tourist Seriously Injured in Knife Attack Near Berlin’s Holocaust Memorial

A man has been seriously injured in a knife attack near the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe in Berlin, German police have confirmed.

The incident occurred around 18:00 local time near the northern side of the memorial, opposite the US Embassy. Images from the scene showed emergency vehicles and armed police securing the area, while officers cordoned off the site and conducted searches.

According to police, the victim, a 30-year-old Spanish tourist, sustained injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening. He has been transported to hospital for treatment.

A male suspect has been arrested, though authorities have yet to establish whether he was known to the victim. Police have not confirmed the type of weapon used in the attack.

In a statement on X, police said that rescue workers were also on site, providing care to multiple witnesses. The motive behind the attack remains unclear, and investigations are ongoing.

The attack comes just days before federal elections in Germany, adding to heightened security concerns.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident hours later, Swedish police arrested three men near the Israeli Embassy in Stockholm on suspicion of preparing to commit a violent crime. Authorities have not suggested any connection between the two events.
