Chelsea were stunned and Manchester United were held to a draw in their respective Premier League encounters on Saturday while Arsenal were defeated at home.
Chelsea thought they were heading for victory as Enzo Fernández’ opener in the 19th minute kept the Blues ahead until the 57th minute.
An equaliser by Marco Asensio helped the hosts to get some balance in the game, and as they continued to push for a breakthrough, Asensio netted again on 90 minutes.
Earlier in the day, Manchester United were held to a 2-2 draw against Everton at the Goodison Park.
At the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal’s title bid suffered a huge blow after they were beaten 1-0 by visiting West Ham.
Arsenal missed the chance to close the gap on Premier League leaders Liverpool as West Ham ended a four-match winless run.
Elsewhere, Super Eagles duo of Calvin Bassey and Alex Iwobi were in action but could not help Fulham from falling to a defeat against Crystal Palace.
In other Premier League games played on Saturday, Brighton thrashed struggling Southampton, Tottenham Hotspur secured a 4-1 win over Ipswich Town, while Bournemouth lost 1-0 to Wolves.
