
A fatal accident occurred around Ayetoro on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway early Monday morning, claiming nine lives and injuring three others.
The crash, which happened at approximately 5:30 a.m., involved a Toyota bus (license plate UYY165ZY) and a stationary truck (license plate DKA244XC).
The bus driver reportedly lost control due to excessive speed and fatigue, crashing into the parked truck.
According to Florence Okpe, spokesperson for the Ogun State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), 13 people were involved in the accident—10 men and three women. Sadly, six men and three women lost their lives, while three others sustained injuries.
Emergency responders transported the injured victims to Famobis Hospital in Mowe, while the deceased were taken to Idera Morgue in Sagamu.
The FRSC Sector Commander expressed concern over reckless driving, emphasizing the importance of adhering to speed limits and taking a 15-minute rest after every four hours of driving.
He extended his condolences to the victims’ families and urged them to contact the Mowe Unit Command for further information.
