
A fatal accident along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway near Ayetoro claimed nine lives and left three others injured early Monday morning.
The crash, which occurred around 5:30 am, involved a Toyota bus with registration number UYY165ZY and a stationary truck bearing the number plate DKA244XC.
According to reports, the tragedy unfolded when the driver of the Toyota bus lost control and collided with the parked truck, resulting in the devastating loss of lives and injuries.
Emergency responders swiftly arrived at the scene to manage the situation and provide aid to the injured victims.
The Spokesperson for the Ogun State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Florence Okpe, disclosed this in a statement sent to journalists on Monday.
“A total of 13 people were involved which comprised of 10 male adults and 03 female adults and 09 were recorded killed (06 male and 03 female) while 03 were injured.
“The suspected causes of the fatal crash were excessive speed and fatigue which led to loss of control and the driver rammed into a station truck.
“The injured victims were taken to Famobis Hospital, Mowe, while the deceased were deposited at Idera morgue Sagamu.
Meanwhile, the Sector Commander is said to have been pained over the recklessness of some drivers for not observing the stipulated speed limit and refusing to obey the 15-minute rest after 4 hrs journey.
He sympathised with the family of the crash victims and enjoined them to contact Mowe unit Command for more information about the crash.
