BREAKING: All we see is bickering, Peter Obi won’t command followers like he did in 2023

John Nwobodo, a former chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in Enugu State has said that Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate would not command the kind of followership he did in 2023 in the next election.

Nwobodo, in a recent interview said the series of crisis rocking the Labour Party can show that things have fallen apart within the party.

Affirming that the Labour Party swayed so much youth presence in the last general election, Nwobodo said 2027 is going to be a different ball game.

He said, “I do not see Peter Obi commanding as much followership and influence as he did in 2023.”

The former IPAC chair further noted that the Labour Party went into the 2023 general election without proper structure, most especially, grassroots presence.

Nwobodo said, he had expected that the party would use the period between the end of the 2023 election results and now to put its house in order ahead of the 2027 polls.

“One had thought that they would settle down to build the party in anticipation of 2027 but all we see is bickering and contestation for party positions compounded by external influences and infiltration by fifth columnists,” Nwobodo said.

Stating that Nigerians are eager to see the emergence of leaders who understand the challenges facing the country, Nwobodo said the majority of supporters the Labour Party garnered ahead of the 2023 election were former members of the Peoples Democratic Party.

According to him, those PDP members have reclined into the party due to stomach infrastructure and it is unfortunate that the 2023 history might not replay itself in 2027.
