The National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) has released the results for the 2024 November/December exams.
These exams included the National Business Certificate (NBC), National Technical Certificate (NTC), Advanced National Business Certificate (ANBC), and Advanced National Technical Certificate (ANTC).
NABTEB’s Acting Registrar, Dr. Nnasia Asanga, announced the results on Monday. He said the exams took place smoothly from November 7 to December 7, 2024, across 1,825 centres nationwide.
According to Dr. Asanga, 44,226 candidates sat for the NBC and NTC exams. Out of these, 29,880 candidates, making up 67.56%, passed with five credits or more, including English and Mathematics. Furthermore, 42,431 candidates, representing 95.94%, earned five credits or more, whether or not they included English and Mathematics.
Dr. Asanga explained that 44,730 candidates registered for the O’Level exams, comprising 25,542 males and 19,188 females. For A-Level exams, 4,095 candidates registered, including 2,725 males and 1,370 females, writing their exams in 571 centres nationwide.
Out of the total candidates, 44,226 sat for the exams, representing 98.87% of those registered. Among the 40,978 candidates who took the craft-level exams, 33,295 candidates (81.25%) were certified as craftsmen. This, he said, is a significant improvement compared to 2023, when only 41.16% were certified.
At the advanced level, 3,892 candidates took the master craftsman exams. Of these, 2,404 candidates (61.77%) passed and were certified, showing progress from the 54.82% pass rate recorded in 2023.
However, Dr. Asanga noted that the number of candidates who earned five credits, including English and Mathematics, was lower than in the 2023 exams. On the other hand, the overall performance for five credits, whether or not they included English and Mathematics, was slightly better than the previous year.
The NABTEB boss also revealed that 256 candidates, representing 0.53% of the total exam takers, were caught engaging in examination malpractice.
