
The Edo State Police Command has arrested two suspects, Pastor Ijebor Simon (45) and Destiny Okojabhole (23), for the murder of seven-year-old Evans Okojabhole.
According to the state police spokesperson, Moses Yamu, the boy’s father, John Okhojibole, reported him missing on February 22, 2025.
Tragically, Evans’ body was found 24 hours later in a bush near their home in Irrua, Edo Central.
His stomach had been ripped open, his feet severed at the ankles, and some fingers cut off.
Police arrested the two suspects during preliminary investigations and have transferred them to the State Criminal Investigations Department in Benin City for further inquiries.
In a separate incident, three suspects—Ibrahim Agboje (King), Yakubu Abudulkareem, and Kareem Audu—have been arrested in connection with the murder of a vigilante commander, Victor Ogedengbe (50).
Ogedengbe was killed on his farm in Erah Camp, Owan East Local Government Area, allegedly by suspected herdsmen.
Following a report by the Owan East LGA chairman on February 25, 2025, police launched an investigation and arrested the suspects, who have also been transferred to the State Criminal Investigations Department.
The Edo State Police Command, under CP Betty Enekpen Otimenyin, has increased security in Uzanu and surrounding areas after two more individuals were killed on their farms in Okpekpe Community.
Authorities are working to apprehend the perpetrators and prevent further attacks.
The police urge the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities, reinforcing their commitment to maintaining security in Edo State.
