The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Sokoto Chapter, has declared an indefinite strike starting Wednesday, citing unresolved disputes with the university management, governing council, and Sokoto State government.
In a communique released after a congress meeting at the Centre for Caliphate Studies, ASUU expressed dissatisfaction with the government’s response to their demands, prompting a complete shutdown of academic activities.
As part of the strike, lecturers will suspend examinations, student supervision, script marking, grading, and statutory meetings.
“The union also activated its strike monitoring committee to ensure strict compliance with the directive,” the statement read.
The resolution was signed by ASUU-SSU Chairperson, Dr. Saidu Abubakar, and Secretary, Hassan Aliyu.
