BREAKING: Fuel Price Hike: University Loans Bicycles To Workers

On Thursday, February 27, Bayero University in Kano State took a commendable step toward supporting its staff by distributing bicycles to its workforce.

In a post shared on its X page, the university announced that this initiative marked the second batch of bicycles allocated to its employees. The bicycles, primarily aimed at junior staff, are a crucial response to the challenges posed by soaring fuel prices and the economic hardship currently afflicting many.

The university’s official website elaborated on the initiative, stating: “In a bid to ease transportation challenges for junior staff, the Vice-Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano, Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas, distributed the second batch of bicycles on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, as part of the university’s welfare initiative.”

During the distribution ceremony, Professor Abbas, alongside the Chairman of the Bicycle Loan Committee, Professor Mahmoud Umar Sani, emphasised the institution’s unwavering commitment to staff welfare. He assured attendees that these bicycles would significantly enhance staff mobility, helping them commute more easily to work.

This recent distribution saw a total of 47 bicycles handed out, following the successful allocation of 100 bicycles in the first phase of the initiative.
