
The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested one Alh Nuru Isah, 50 years for “canning” his wife, Wasila Abdullahi, 24 years to coma and her subsequent death over “handling of food ingredients and fruits designated for breaking of Ramadan fast,” Police said.
Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Ahmed Wakil, in a statement on Sunday, said that: “On Saturday, 1st of March 2025, (the first of Ramadan) at about 11:30 pm the Command was alerted to an alleged culpable homicide incident near Government Girls College, Fadama Mada Area, Bauchi. This unfortunate event arose from a misunderstanding between one Alh Nuru Isah, aged 50, a businessman at Central market Bauchi and his second wife, Wasila Abdullahi, aged 24, concerning handling food ingredients and fruits designated for breaking the Ramadan fast, which escalated into a violent confrontation.
Wakil said preliminary findings indicated that the suspect is accused of using a cane to strike his wife, which resulted in her collapsing and becoming unconscious. He added that Wasila was rushed to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) but lost her life.
The Police have initiated a thorough investigation into the incident and have apprehended the suspect, Alh Nuru Isah. “The cane purportedly utilised in the assault has been recovered as exhibits, and the deceased has been placed in the mortuary pending autopsy procedures,” Police said.
