
An artillery officer, Nafiu Olakunle, has been named the new Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
His appointment has been met with excitement in Ileogbo, Aiyedire Local Government Area, and across Osun State, as he becomes one of the state’s notable figures to hold a key national position.
Olakunle’s selection is widely regarded as a recognition of his dedication and service to the nation, with many hopeful that his leadership will bring significant reforms to the NYSC.
The new DG, who hails from Ileogbo near Iwo, Osun State, previously served as Chief of Staff to the late Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Taoreed Lagbaja, who passed away at the age of 56 on November 5, 2024, in Lagos after battling an illness.
His appointment takes immediate effect.
