The Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdul-Rasheed Akanbi, has reiterated his support for Governor Ademola Adeleke, declaring that anyone opposing the governor is challenging the anointed of God.
The paramount ruler and prescribed authority over the three local government areas in Iwoland made this statement while receiving Yeye Dupe Adeleke-Sanni at his palace on Saturday.
The monarch asserted that Governor Adeleke’s election was divinely ordained, describing him as the Olosun of Osun, who must be supported to succeed in governing the state.
Commending the administration for its governance efforts, the Oluwo stated that anyone fighting the governor risks incurring divine wrath. He assured that the palace would continue to pray for the success of the state government.
Accompanied by members of the Iwo Board of Trustees, the monarch also praised the Adeleke family for their longstanding support for Iwoland, highlighting several ongoing projects and urging further development initiatives for the ancient town.
Following a closed-door meeting with the monarch, Yeye Adeleke-Sanni assured the traditional council that she would convey the palace’s message to the governor.
She emphasised Governor Adeleke’s deep affection for Iwo, citing his personal commitment to the town’s development, including plans to reconstruct the Iwo-Ejigbo road.
The matriarch of the Adeleke family described her visit as a private one but affirmed that she would present the concerns and requests of the Iwo people to the state government for consideration.
Expressing gratitude for the warm reception, Yeye Adeleke-Sanni assured the palace that the governor remains committed to infrastructure development in Iwo. She revealed that Governor Adeleke had pledged to complete the Iwo-Osogbo road and initiate the dualisation of the Odo-Ori–Adeke main road within the township.
“I appreciate this rousing welcome from the people of Iwo and the palace in particular. I have taken note of all the issues raised. We have a listening governor, and I will deliver your message to His Excellency,” she promised the monarch and elders at the palace.
