BREAKING: Gov Mbah Inaugurates Newly Reconstituted Local Government Service Commission

Governor Peter Mbah has inaugurated the newly reconstituted Enugu State Local Government Service Commission, urging the appointees to foster a productive and efficient local government system to support the administration’s commitment to inclusive development and prosperity.

The Commission is chaired by Barr. Nana Ogbodo, with Hon. Peter Nnaji as Member I, Mrs. Florence Igboji as Member II, Dr. Bathlomew Ezeugwu as Member III, and Amaka Nweke as Member IV. Osondu Nnaji serves as the Commission’s Secretary.

During the inauguration on Monday, Mbah highlighted that the appointees were chosen based on their impeccable reputation, character, and proven record as selfless public servants.

Describing the Commission as essential for delivering good governance and the benefits of democracy, he remarked, “It is crucial that anyone appointed as Chairman or Member of this Commission possesses unquestionable character and sound political judgment.

“As you are likely aware, our development model prioritises grassroots engagement. Our interventions across the social services sector have left no region of the state untouched. In the education sector alone, we are constructing 260 Smart Green Schools across the 260 electoral wards in the state. The same applies to our Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) and farm estates across these wards.

“This means there is a significant responsibility placed upon you. You are tasked with ensuring the efficient administration of our local government system.

“I have full confidence that, given your track record and reputation, you will perform your duties commendably,” he affirmed.

On behalf of the members, Barr. Nana Ogbodo expressed gratitude to Governor Mbah for the confidence shown in him and the other appointees, pledging to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of services by Local Government employees across the state, in line with the governor’s overarching vision for rapid economic growth and grassroots development.

“We recognise the truth that with great responsibility comes high expectations. We acknowledge the progress our state has made under your leadership. We are aware of the remarkable pace at which our state is advancing. To achieve your goal of transforming the state from a $4.4 billion to a $30 billion economy, we must all work together.

“Consequently, we aim to strengthen the local government system, ensuring that no one is left behind in this historic journey, and we believe our success will be noteworthy,” Ogbodo stated.
