BREAKING: Strong Coalition to Defeat APC Underway—Atiku

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has denied reports suggesting he has left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

As the PDP’s presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, Atiku reaffirmed his commitment to forming a coalition of political parties aimed at defeating the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections.

Recent reports indicated that Atiku was contemplating a departure from the PDP to prepare for the upcoming presidential race, with claims he was finalising a move to join the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

In response, Atiku’s media office released a statement on Saturday, asserting that he remains a dedicated member of the PDP.

Describing the reports as a “fallacy,” the media office urged Nigerians to disregard them.

It highlighted that Atiku has consistently advocated for a coalition of opposition parties in Nigeria ahead of the 2027 general elections to unseat the ruling APC.

The office emphasised that this coalition would include all opposition parties, the PDP included.

“We have noted that some news outlets are circulating unfounded claims that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar is abandoning the Peoples Democratic Party,” stated the release.

“We wish to clarify that the notion of Atiku defecting to another party is entirely baseless and illogical.

“It is therefore inaccurate and unfounded to suggest that the Waziri is forsaking the PDP. Such a claim contradicts the goal of the grand coalition which the former Vice President is actively promoting alongside other distinguished political leaders in the country.

“We unequivocally affirm that Atiku remains a key and legitimate member of the PDP, the primary opposition party.

“These defection claims are an attempt to mislead Nigerians regarding the significance of the grand coalition working to liberate Nigeria from the grip of the APC.”
