Juventus head coach Thiago Motta believes his team defeated Manchester City 2-0 in the UEFA Champions League because they played with their “heart and soul”.
The Champions League Match which took place at the Allianz Stadium on Wednesday night, December 11, saw Thiago Motta and boys secure a crucial win, thanks to goals from Juventus’ star striker Dusan Vlahovic and American midfielder Weston McKennie.
In his post-match interview, Motta attributed the victory to the players’ intense dedication and unwavering focus.
He stated, “We played with heart and soul, but also our heads, displaying a collective desire to execute our game plan effectively.”
Motta acknowledged the challenges posed by Pep Guardiola’s highly regarded side, explaining that the team had anticipated needing to adopt a more defensive strategy than usual.
“We knew beforehand that we would have to defend deeper, but we executed it well as a cohesive unit,” he added.
Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of synchronizing their attacking efforts, noting, “In the attack, we had to coordinate our movements and strike at just the right moments, and that’s precisely what we achieved.”
