The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has dismissed Governor Simi Fubara’s letter to the Rivers State House of Assembly regarding the state budget, calling it “useless.”

Wike, who previously served as the governor of Rivers State, made this statement during a media chat on Wednesday.

His comments come after the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Martin Amaewhule, gave Governor Fubara a 48-hour deadline to resubmit the 2025 budget.

This ultimatum followed a Supreme Court ruling by Justice Emmanuel Akomaye Agim, which ordered 27 lawmakers to immediately resume their legislative duties.

Reacting to the situation, Wike accused Fubara of lacking sincerity in his approach to resolving political tensions in the state.

He urged the governor to build a better relationship with the legislature instead of making public gestures that, according to him, achieve nothing.
