The leadership of the Nigerian Senate on Wednesday summoned Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser over the rising insecurity challenges across the country.
Speaking at the plenary, the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio said the NSA is expected to appear before lawmakers of the Red Chamber next week.
Also summoned by the Senate are all the service chief – the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa; the Chief of Army Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede; the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla; and the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar.
Others are the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency, Mohammed Mohammed, and the Director General of the Department of State Services Adeola Ajayi.
Akpabio explained that the service chiefs were previously invited by the Senate but could not make it due to scheduling conflicts.
He noted that the invitation to the security leaders would allow the parties to deliberate on critical security issues and propose urgent solutions.
The meeting between the service chiefs and members of the Senate will also provide an opportunity to address the allegations that some international organisations and governments are involved in the sponsorship of terrorism in Nigeria.
