BREAKING: God used me to make Peter Obi Atiku’s running mate in 2019

Reno Omokri, a former aide to ex-president Goodluck Jonathan has said that he was instrumental to Peter Obi’s vice presidential candidacy in 2019.

Omokri said it was due to some of his strategic initiatives that Obi was chosen to become the running mate to Atiku Abubakar during the 2019 presidential campaigns and election.

Speaking in an interview on News Central on Thursday, Omokri said he had documented evidence to prove his claims.

According to him, he received a request from a former president of the country to ensure that Peter Obi got all the support he needed ahead of the 2019 polls.

Omokri’s words, “A former president had asked us to make sure that we promote him because he felt that he was a good candidate. So I did my best, you know, I spent my money to promote him. I was responsible for Peter Obi becoming the running mate to Waziri Atiku Abubakar in 2019. I have said this publicly, I’ve got the documents and I am meticulous record keeper.

“Waziri Atiku Abubakar cannot deny, Peter Obi cannot deny it. Peter Obi was lobbying me, sending me his resume. We did everything we did, I have not collected a dime from Peter Obi,” Omokri said.

He further stated that himself and other political supporters of Obi, at the time, did not deem it right to leave the PDP with him because they were never informed about the former governor’s defection to Labour Party.

“Now what happened is that Peter Obi left our party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) without informing any of us who helped him and that’s okay.

“He should have done that but he left the party just suddenly. Obviously we couldn’t go with him because he didn’t tell us he was leaving and even if he did we wouldn’t have left with him.She mentioned

“He mentioned that even after Obi left the PDP – in the build up of the 2023 general election – they (members of the party) continued in their quest to build the party,” Omokri added.
