BREAKING: Kogi Group Seeks Fair Representation, Begs Gov Ododo For Zoning Of Federal Constituency Seat

A non-governmental organisation, MopaEffect muro Forum For Fairness, Equity, and Justice, has made a heartfelt plea to the governor of Kogi State, Ahmed Ododo, requesting for the Yagba Federal Constituency seat in the 2027 general election to be zoned to Mopamuro local government area.
The appeal was conveyed to the governor through House of Assembly member representing Mopamuro state constituency, Hon. Olawumi Jacob.
At a peaceful protest, which held at the APC secretariat in Mopa, Mopamuro local government area of the State, members of the group expressed their confidence in the governor’s leadership, sense of justice, and commitment to equity. They highlighted the imbalance in political representation within the Yagba Federal Constituency, with Mopamuro LGA having had only one representative in over two decades, compared to the overwhelming dominance of representatives from Yagba West and Yagba East LGAs.
The group pointed out that the current representative from Yagba East, Elder Leke Abejide, has expressed his intention to seek a third term in the 2027 elections, despite earlier promises to Mopamuro LGA electorate during his 2023 campaig.
They averred that the move, if unchallenged, could further marginalise Mopamuro LGA within the federal constituency, relegating them to political insignificance.
Therefore, the Mopamuro Forum For Fairness, Equity, and Justice urged Governor Ododo to intervene and support the zoning of the Yagba Federal Constituency seat to Mopamuro in the upcoming elections. They emphasised the need for balance and equity in political representation, chanting the slogan “O to ge, Mopamuro lokan” (Enough is enough, it’s Mopamuro’s Turn).
The appeal, signed by prominent stakeholders such as Commodore Folusho Daniel (Rtd), Chief Eric Fiki, Chief Makinde Oyebode (JP), and Hon. Jesse Abayomi Oloke, commended Governor Ododo for his administration’s achievements and expressed their full commitment to the success of his tenure.
The group’s plea reflects the growing calls for fair and just representation in the political landscape of Kogi State, with a focus on empowering marginalised communities and ensuring equal opportunities for all constituents.
The heartfelt plea from the group was formally presented by the Aro of Mopa Land, Chief Makinde Oyebode, and was received by Hon. Tope Ajayi (Santo), the Special Senior Assistant to the Governor on Internal Security, on behalf of Hon. Olawumi Jacob, the member representing Mopamuro state constituency in the Kogi State House of Assembly.
