BREAKING: Delta Broadcast Media Conference To Unlock State’s Media Potential, Says Convener Rukky Onoro

In a landmark move aimed at transforming the media landscape in Delta State, the Delta Broadcast Media Conference is set to convene for the first time, bringing together broadcasters from every major radio and television station across the state under one roof.

Speaking about the event during an interview with ARISE NEWS on Friday, Convener Rukky Onoro described the conference as a “gathering of like minds,” where critical issues affecting the broadcast media industry in Delta will be discussed. “This has never been done before,” he noted. “For the very first time, we’re having everybody under the same roof to discuss issues that are very critical to the broadcast media industry. These discussions definitely would drive productivity in our state and definitely would also equip these media houses to become better in their reportage, better with content, better with creativity, better with inspiring stories, and of course, a better Delta.”

Themed “Broadcast Media: The Pathway to Unlocking Delta’s Possibilities,” Onoro stated that the event will focus on strengthening local content creation and empowering media professionals to fully harness the unique stories and talent within the state.

He said, “We have over 400 registered members who have indicated interest that, ‘hey, I’m going to be at the Unity Holding Government House,’ where it’s holding, next week, Friday.”

When asked if the emphasis of the event is solely on Delta state, he responded, “Well, Delta to the rest of the world, quite frankly. We believe that we have unique stories. We believe we have talent.”

Onoro also defended the focus on broadcast media, amid the rising dominance of social media. He said, “Mainstream media is still very much respected all around the world. You have international cable networks like ARISE, for instance. So, it can never be old fashioned. However, there’s a marriage between new media and mainstream media, and we also in Delta want to see our media houses leverage on that. At our last count, we have 14 radio stations and TV stations who are going to be a part of this. So it’s the next big thing in Delta State.”

Onoro added, “We’re putting together a conference that is having speakers who would be inspiring the attendees. One thing we want to do after this conference is to recalibrate, not doing the same thing the same way and pretty much hoping that the result will come out of it. So that’s what we’re trying to do with this conference.”
