BREAKING: Ekiti Governor Oyebanji Bags New Awards as Vanguard, Energy Times Reward Transformative Leadership
Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, was celebrated with two prestigious awards on Friday evening in Lagos, reaffirming his growing reputation as a transformative leader. The Governor received the Vanguard Newspapers’ Personality of the Year (Good Governance) Award and Energy Times Magazine’s Energy Governor of the Year Award at separate ceremonies held at Eko Hotel and Suites and Oriental Hotel, respectively.
The dual recognitions come just weeks after Oyebanji was named Silverbird Man of the Year, marking the fifth time in a single year that the Governor has been honored for his leadership.
According to the organisers, the awards were in recognition of Oyebanji’s commitment to good governance, his investment in infrastructure, energy, agriculture, and community development, as well as his inclusive leadership style that continues to resonate across Ekiti State.
In a statement delivered on his behalf by his Chief of Staff, Mr. Niyi Adebayo, at the Vanguard Awards ceremony, Governor Oyebanji dedicated the honour to the people of Ekiti State. He described their support as a driving force behind his administration’s achievements.
At the Energy Times event, represented by the Commissioner for Infrastructure and Public Utilities, Prof. Bolaji Aluko, the Governor outlined his administration’s strides in power reforms. He noted that within two years, several communities had been reconnected to the national grid, efforts to expand house metering were underway, and the state’s Independent Power Plant was being upgraded for broader coverage.
Governor Oyebanji also expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for economic policies that have improved state revenues and enabled governors to expand development efforts.
He reiterated his government’s focus on delivering impactful, people-oriented projects that align with the vision of shared prosperity. “Well, this is possibly the fifth this year and all of them are highly respected awards, and in many of them, the populace were involved in the voting process. So, it speaks to the appreciation of our performance and commitment to the shared prosperity agenda of our administration and all the efforts are to ensure growth and development of the state in the areas of infrastructure, healthcare, human capital development, community development and youth empowerment,” the Governor said.
