Abducted FUDMA Student Rescued After 50 Days

One of the five female students abducted from Federal University Dutsinma (FUDMA) in Katsina State has been successfully rescued after enduring 50 days in captivity.

The released student was recovered from the kidnappers’ hideout and transported to Kuncin Kalgo, Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara, and was later returned to Katsina.

Reports indicate that she is currently in stable condition, receiving necessary medical attention. The confirmation of her release came from ASP Aliyu Abubakar-Sadiq, the Police Command Spokesman in Katsina State, who shared the news with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

Recalling the harrowing incident, the girls had been held captive since October 3, 2023, when armed gunmen invaded the rented apartment of the students located behind Mariamoh Ajiri Memorial School, Dutsinma, firing shots indiscriminately around 2 a.m. Initially, the police had announced the arrest of a man suspected to be an informant to the terrorists, but updates on the progress of the investigation have been scarce since then.
