The Sun Newspaper reports that former Senate Minority Leader and Abia South senatorial district representative, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, has disproved the idea that the Igbos are not united enough to back a presidential candidate from their group.
Abaribe used the fact that Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, earned a resounding amount of Igbo support in the most recent presidential election as proof to refute this notion. He stressed that Igbos supported Obi not just because of his ethnicity but also because they thought he was the best person to handle the country’s economic problems.
Contrary to the notion that Igbos lack togetherness, Abaribe said, “Let’s look at the most recent election. Igboland was a major supporter of Peter Obi. Everyone who questioned this information found it to be true. Why? Because Igbos believed Obi was the best person to manage our economy during a crucial time, which called for a logical, smart, and cautious leader.
Abaribe responded, “Igbos didn’t vote for him solely because he’s Igbo; they voted for him because they recognized him as the most suitable candidate. ” When asked if the votes for Obi were motivated by his Igbo heritage. I’m prepared to defend this claim against any refutation. Be aware that his appeal reached across the nation, not just Igbo areas.
