After my handing over on May 29, I will only leave with two things and nothing more- Udom Emmanuel

According to a news that was published by the Leadership Newspaper Online this morning, it was reported that Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State, who was named the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) in the twilight of former Governor Godswill Akpabio’s administration at the exit of Obong Umana Okon Umana, has revealed that he would only be leaving his office with two things after his tenure ends in May.

Governor Udom Emmanuel, who himself is now leaving office after eight years, has repeatedly expressed his passion and admiration as a professional banker, as he said he would return to the business after his administration ends, as the former Executive Director at Zenith Bank, during an interview with Leadership Newspaper, was quoted to have said he would only leave with two things.

He said, “After my handing over on May 29, I will only leave with two things and nothing more. I did not come to government with anything, rather than my laptop and iPad, and I will leave with them at the end of my tenure.”

It was reported that even when speculations were rife that the governor would play a last minute joker by using executive powers to corner the Eket, Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District seat, as parting compensation like other state governors did, Udom toed the path of peace and allowed the zoning arrangement to subsist over his personal interest.

However, while his Special Assistant (SA), who is in charge of Documentation, Mr. Essien Ndueso, was reacting to what Udom said, he said that the Governor has never left anyone in doubt, as to where he would be after his eventful tenure.

He said, “He has repeatedly said he would leave the Government House with his laptop and iPad, to return to the banking system.”
