Aniebonam: I funded the party for 22yrs and Kwankwaso wants to hijack it even when he’s not a member

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) founder, Boniface Aniebonam, has publicly chastised former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso for reportedly attempting to take over the party hierarchy, according to Premium Times. CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>

Aniebonam said that by changing the party’s logo and constitution without conducting the required internal consultations, Kwankwaso and his Kwankwasiyya Movement had betrayed his confidence. When Kwankwaso made an appearance on live television and disclosed these modifications, he voiced his worries.

Aniebonam emphasized the severity of the situation, stating that his silence would harm the party’s integrity. He recalled his long-term dedication to the NNPP, noting that he has been the primary financier since its inception in 2002 and lamented that Kwankwaso’s actions threatened to undermine the party’s foundational principles and his role as a life member of the board.

The NNPP founder further pointed out that despite Kwankwaso’s significant role in the party since joining in 2022 to run for the 2023 presidency, he is neither a member of the board of trustees nor the designated leader of the party. Aniebonam’s statements highlight deep internal conflicts within the NNPP as it navigates post-election dynamics and leadership challenges.

He said, “I believed that Kwankwaso was not aware of the internal crisis in the party until he came out openly on live television, displaying a new logo and flag for the NNPP and mutilating its constitution.

“It is disturbing and if I continue to keep quiet, it will not be in the interest of the soul of the party as the founder and at some point, its board chairman.

“The party’s constitution says the founder is a life member of the board and even when I’m alive, my brother and good friend, Kwankwaso, for whatever reasons, is destroying the party I built from 2002 to 2022 when he joined us to contest the 2023 presidency.

“I funded the party for 22 years and Kwankwaso wants to hijack it even when he is not a member of the board of the trustees or the leader of the party. CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>
