APC Are Political Vampires; Their Lifespan Expires in February 2027 – PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has labelled the All Progressives Congress (APC), a group of “political vampires” that survives by “sucking the blood” of ordinary citizens while causing great suffering across Nigeria.

The PDP argues that the APC is a coalition of those who seek to grab power and steal the country’s wealth, leaving millions of Nigerians to struggle with severe hardships.

The main opposition party made the remarks in a statement from its National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, during a press conference in Abuja on Monday.

The party also condemned the recent attacks by the APC on Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, who has been outspoken about the difficulties facing Nigerians under the APC government. The PDP described these attacks as “reckless, insensitive, and an arrogant display of failure.”

Ologunagba stated, “The APC’s attack on Governor Makinde confirms that they are jittery as their days are numbered. Nigerians have seen through the APC’s lies, manipulations, and suppressive policies that demonstrate incompetence in governance.” He emphasized that Governor Makinde is a credible and effective leader, pointing to his various development projects that benefit the people of Oyo State.

He stated that Makinde’s leadership, along with that of other PDP governors, shows a commitment to development and democracy, which resists the APC’s attempts to turn Nigeria into a one-party state.

Furthermore, Ologunagba expressed his outrage at the APC’s claim that Nigeria is “on the cusp of prosperity” while the country faces serious issues like insecurity, economic hardship, and poor infrastructure.

He blamed these problems on what he termed the APC’s “anti-people policies.” He added, “It’s absurd for the APC to think it can deceive Nigerians with false claims of performance when it has failed on all fronts, undoing the progress made during the PDP’s 16 years in power.”

Ologunagba also highlighted the economic decline under the APC. He said that the Naira, which was valued at N168 to the Dollar when the PDP was in power, has now dropped to almost N2,000 per Dollar. He pointed out that petrol prices have skyrocketed from N87 per litre to over N1,500, while the price of a bag of rice has increased from N8,000 to over N100,000. He noted that other essential food items, such as beans and garri, have also seen dramatic price hikes.

Ologunagba, therefore, accused APC leaders of “looting the nation’s treasury to fund their lavish lifestyles” while ordinary Nigerians face unprecedented difficulties. He suggested that the personal attacks and manipulation of data by the APC reflect a sense of desperation as the 2027 elections draw near.

“The APC should acknowledge its failures and prepare to exit in February 2027. The PDP, backed by Nigerians, will end the APC’s political journey, putting this contraption where it belongs—in political oblivion,” the PDP added.

Recall that during the commissioning of the Late Olusoji Adagunodo, the zonal secretariat of the PDP in Ibadan on Saturday, Makinde stated that the 2027 election would be a contest between the APC and Nigerians, adding that only he could set the agenda for his political career.

However, Felix Morka, the National Publicity Secretary of the APC described Makinde’s comments as “reckless” and “unbecoming” of a leader. Morka added that his party, the PDP is fading into irrelevance.

Morka added, “Makinde cannot even represent the future electoral choices of the people of Oyo, let alone speak for Nigerians. Makinde and his partisan allies are simply alarmed that the transformative potential of Tinubu’s economic policies could consign their 2027 ambitions and calculations to the dustbin of political irrelevance.”
