APC group accuses Yobe chairman of misappropriating 2023 election funds

A group, Yobe APC Mandate, has written a petition against the state chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Alhaji Mohammed Gadaka, over alleged misappropriation and diversion of 2023 presidential election funds.

It was also alleged that Gadaka has not convened a meeting of the state executive committee and state working committee in more than a year.

The petition was addressed to the National Chairman of the APC, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, and signed by the group’s chairman, Comrade Mal Yusuf Mam.

The Yobe APC chairman was also accused of anti-party activities in the last presidential election, which saw PDP winning the state.

“The Chairman further made the situation worse when he secretly engaged in anti-party activities by mobilizing support for the PDP presidential candidate through directing APC members across the 17 Local Government Area of the state to vote for the PDP.

“It may be of interest to you to note that, the Chairman lacks all the leadership qualities to administer the party affairs in Yobe State.

“He lacked sense of judgment and reconciliation in order to bring unity amongst the party members in the state.

“This is quite in contrast with Article 7(i) of the APC Constitution as one of the objectives of the party is to foster unity.

“In fact, the Yobe State APC Chairman do not possess the minimum constitutional requirement of SSCE result that will help him to communicate, read and write and represent the party in any official capacity,” the petition added.

It was observed that the Office of the Deputy National Chairman (North) of the party has received a copy of the petition.

Efforts made to get Gadaka’s response to the issues raised in the petition were not successful as of the time of filing this report.
