APC Women Reject Tinubu Endorsement Committee, Criticize Smart Adeyemi Over Kogi Violence Silence

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Women Inclusive Forum in Kogi State has firmly rejected the formation of any committee to endorse President Bola Tinubu, describing the move as premature and disconnected from the pressing concerns of the people.

In a strongly worded statement issued on Tuesday and signed by the group’s spokesperson, Oyiza Joy Simon, the forum Senator Smart Adeyemi, accusing him of abandoning his constituents since the March 2023 general elections.

The statement noted that Adeyemi, who represented Kogi West Senatorial District for 12 years, has not visited his hometown of Iyara in Ijumu Local Government Area in nearly three years — not even following the death of his mother four months ago.

“As an immediate past senator who served this senatorial district for 12 years, he has not even issued a statement to condemn the ongoing killings in his own place,” the women’s forum declared.

The group went further, asserting that Adeyemi “lacks the morality to lead any campaign or committee” to endorse President Tinubu, especially while his constituents continue to suffer from insecurity and neglect.

The forum also accused the former senator of attempting to outmaneuver other stakeholders in a bid to regain political relevance ahead of the 2027 elections. They issued a caution to Governor Usman Ododo, urging him not to be swayed by individuals seeking to leverage the governor’s second-term ambitions for personal gain.

“Residents are tired of the same way of doing things without results,” the statement emphasized, calling on Adeyemi to first address the urgent needs of his people before engaging in discussions about the upcoming general election.
