As the death toll reaches 180, residents grieve.

Residents of Majia town in Jigawa State have said that the death toll from the tanker explosion that rocked the state on October 15, has risen to 180.

The residents while lamenting their plight families are devastated by the incident where a heavily petrol-laden truck travelling from Kano to Nguru in Yobe state exploded.

One resident, Jabir Majia, who works at the Adams Science Tahfizul Quran, said the explosion happened right in front of the school gate.

Noting that people are still morning, Majia said every family in the town has suffered a loss or more.

Another resident, Mustapha Abdullahi said his family lost 52 people from the tanker explosion tragedy.

According to Abdullahi, the situation is a horrific one and they have never experienced anything like this before.
