Attempt to blackmail EFCC Chairman shameful – Atiku’s camp on Matawalle’s $2bn allegation

Daniel Bwala, the media aide to the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar, has decried what he called an attempt to blackmail Abdulrasheed Bawa, the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, as reported by Daily Post.

Bwala made the statement while reacting to the allegation against Bawa by the Governor of Zamfara State, Bello Matawalle. The Governor had accused Bawa of begging him for $2 million.

The Governor in an interview with BBC Hausa, he claimed that he was being investigated due to the fact he “didn’t offer the EFCC Chairman the money he demanded from him.”

However, the EFCC dismissed the claim, saying that it would be drawn into a mud with a suspect under its investigation for corruption in the state. Reacting to the development, Atiku’s aid said that the attempt to blackmail Bawa was shameful.
