Bandits Set Farms On Fire In Kaduna

Some suspected bandits have set six farms in Kwaga village and Unguwar Zako in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State on fire.

The bandits were said to have set fire to maize and other crops harvested on these farms.

Speaking about their ordeals, residents of the community, especially the owners of the farms said the bandits invaded their property and set fire on them.

A resident who expressed shock said the incident took place on Sunday.

While a farmer, Kabiru Kwaga, who had harvested over 160 bags of maize last year had his produce destroyed by the fire, Surajo Kwaga, who had harvested 40 bags of maize from his farm last year, also lost his entire crop to the fire.

Another farmer, Dan Gido harvested 50 bags last year and was expecting at least 65 bags of maize but was disappointed following the incident.

The chairman of the Birnin Gwari-Niger Inter-boundaries Communities Association, Ishaq Usman Kasai, who confirmed the incident said the bandits responsible for the destruction were part of the group led by the notorious criminal Yellow Jamboros.

According to Kasai, the criminal has been terrorizing various communities in the LGA.
