Benue denies commissioning Fulani security outfit

The Guardian Newspapers reports that government of Benue State has refuted allegations that it hired a private security company run by former Boko Haram leader Aliu Teshaku.

Governor Hyacinth Alia stated he was unaware of the existence of such a security organization when speaking through his press secretary, Tersoo Kula.

According to a report that appeared in news channels on Tuesday, the governor of Benue State had hired Al-Teshaku Global Security Ltd, a security company that Alhaji Teshaku had founded.

In response to the news report that claimed the state government was represented at the event by the deputy governor’s protocol officer, Gabriel Igoche, Kula questioned: “Where is it known that a sitting Governor deputizes his deputy to represent him at a function and the deputy, in turn, sends his ‘protocol officer’ to represent him?

“Governor Hyacinth Alia wants to see Internally Displaced People (IDPS) return to their homes and farms, but he is not desperate enough to employ any and all methods to make this happen.

He is developing legal plans to carry out the programs the state’s citizens were promised. The outcomes will become apparent very soon,” he stated.
