The lawyer of the Indigenous People of Biafra has demanded the immediate release of Nnamdi Kanu by the Department of State Services (DSS) to release the IPOB leaders as soon as possible so that he can get the appropriate medical attention he needs.
It is important to remember that on Monday, the lawyer for the IPOB leader Ifeanyi Ejiofor, announced that Kanu had been diagnosed with a gastrointestinal problem and was denied to seek medical attention from his doctor.
Therefore, he criticized the Department of State Security (DSS) for its refusal to act on the decision of Justice Binta Nyako of a Federal High Court in Abuja, which said that the IPOB leader should be given urgent medical care.
Meanwhile, in a new statement that was released on Thursday, Ejiofor said that the leader of the IPOB is being given poor medications, which is why his health condition is deteriorating.
He further stated that after his regular visit to Kanu at the DSS headquarters on Thursday, it was learned that the agency is ” deliberately refusing to avail Kanu of the prescribed possible medical relief. ”
The IPOB lawyer said: ” Sadly, we made the startling discovery that despite the alarm raised on Monday, calling for the intervention of responsible foreign Governments and institutions, on the DSS’ flagrant disobedience of orders of the court, particularly in denying Onyendu Nnamdi Kanu, access to his medical doctor and medication, the DSS immediately resorted to local chemist store to procure substandard drugs to be administered on Onyendu.
