BIZARRE: Man Kills Elder Brother Over Food

Security operatives in Anambra State have arrested 37-year-old Anthony Kosisochukwu Okafor, who is accused of killing his 45-year-old elder brother, Emmanuel Okafor, over a dispute regarding foodstuffs in Adegbe village, Abagana, Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State.

According to Ikenga Tochukwu, spokesperson for the Anambra State Police Command, the suspect was apprehended by police operatives from the Abagana Police Divisional Headquarters and AVG operatives on 7th February 2025 at 7 pm.

Ikenga reported that Kosisochukwu has confessed to the crime, emphasising the need to tackle domestic violence.

“The suspect admitted to engaging the victim in a physical altercation following a heated argument about the foodstuffs in their home. Kosisochukwu reportedly used a stick to pierce Emmanuel’s chest. The victim was quickly taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead by the attending doctor.

“This incident is alarmingly distressing and highlights the urgent need to address domestic violence and conflicts within families. It also underscores the necessity of managing disputes and emotions in a healthy and constructive manner to prevent irreparable consequences.

“The case has been transferred to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department in Awka and will be taken to court upon the completion of the investigation.”
