Nigeria’s president, Bola Tinubu, congratulated Liberian presidential candidate Joseph Boakai on his victory on Saturday and asked him to unite the nation and govern Liberia with integrity.
As stated by Ajuri Ngelale, Tinubu’s Special Advisor on Media and Publicity, Channels Television reports that Tinubu has congratulated the Liberian government and people on the well run Liberian presidential election.
The President was particularly effusive in his admiration of President George Weah of Liberia for demonstrating extraordinary leadership by accepting defeat in the election and averting a social and political crisis.
He said that Weah’s “great act of democratic sportsmanship is exemplary, particularly at this time in West Africa, when democracy is under attack by malign actors who are bent on subverting the will of the people” .
President Tinubu congratulated President George Weah for demonstrating remarkable leadership by conceding the election and averting a socio-political tragedy.
President Tinubu applauded the Liberians for their peaceful protests and encouraged them to keep up the fight for democracy and civility.
