The Bauchi State Police Command, has said that a former Chairman of Jama’are Local Government Area of Bauchi State, Isa Muhammad-Wabi, has been stabbed to death.
The Command, in a statement made available by its Spokesman, Ahmed Wakil, said that the deceased was attacked by a group of youths at his residence at Fadaman Mada, located behind Government Girls Secondary School, Bauchi, in the early hours of Friday.
Wakil, a Chief Superintendent of Police, said that preliminary investigations revealed that the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances of his 24-year old son, Abdulgafar Isa Mohammed.

He said that investigation suggests that the suspects, Ahmad Abdulkadir, also known as Abba, and Faruk Malami, referred to as Ajebo, had entered the home around 3.00am and subsequently conspired to assault Mr. Wabi. He sustained multiple stab wounds to the neck.
The statement was entitled: “CULPABLE HOMICIDE: One arrested in connection with gruesome killing of ex- LG chair, as CP Sani Omolori visits the victim’s family, direct discreet investigation.”
He said that the Police received a distressed call on the incident and rushed to the scene and evacuated the former Council Chairman to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi for medical attention, but was confirmed dead.
“In the early morning of 2nd May 2025, at about 0403 hours (4.03am), the Police Command received a distress call from a Good Samaritan concerning an incident involving an attack by a group of youths at Fadaman Mada, located behind Government Girls Secondary School, Bauchi.
“In response, a dedicated team of officers was dispatched to the scene. They found Mr Isa Muhammad Wabi, a 66-year-old former Chairman of Jama’are LGA, in critical condition due to injuries sustained in the attack. He was promptly evacuated to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital Bauchi for urgent medical attention.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances of his son, Abdulgafar Isa Mohammed, aged 24. The investigation suggests that Ahmad Abdulkadir, also known as Abba, and Faruk Malami, referred to as Ajebo, had entered the home around 3.00am and subsequently conspired to assault Mr. Wabi. He sustained multiple stab wounds to the neck,” he said.
Wakil added that “one of the suspects, Ajebo, was found unconscious at the scene, likely due to retaliatory action from an enraged individual. He was also taken to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Abdulgafar Isa Mohammed has been taken into custody for questioning and has cooperated, providing valuable information to the authorities.”
He said that the Command is conducting a thorough investigation to uncover the circumstances of this unfortunate incident and ensure that all responsible parties are brought to justice.
“The Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State Command, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, visited the deceased house, extended condolences to the families affected by this tragic event, and assured them that the investigation will diligently pursue those responsible for this grievous act,” the PPRO stated.
