BREAKING: 109 Prison Officers Promoted To New Ranks In Edo

A total of 109 officers from the Edo State Command of the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCS) have received promotions to new ranks.

The officers were officially decorated with their new ranks in Benin City on Thursday, December 12, by the State Controller of Corrections, Philomena Emehinola.

In her remark, Emehinola, who herself was elevated to the rank of Assistant Controller General, urged the newly promoted officers to demonstrate greater dedication to their responsibilities.

She emphasized that these promotions represent a significant call to duty, encouraging the officers to enhance their work ethic and maintain discipline.

Emehinola noted that President Bola Tinubu has shown considerable generosity towards the service since he assumed office, particularly highlighted by the unprecedented promotion of over 12,000 personnel in 2024.

“Our promotion is not delayed and we are sure that the 2025 promotion will even be more earlier than this.

“Let’s continue to move the service forward. Nobody else can do it for us.

“All of us have to brace up, be more disciplined and hardworking to take the service to an enviable height,” Emehinola said.

The newly promoted Assistant Controller General of Corrections, who addressed those not included in the recent promotions, reassured them that their time for advancement would arrive as determined by divine providence while encouraging them to prepare for future opportunities.

Emehinola announced that eight officers were elevated to the rank of Deputy Controller (DC) and an additional eight to Assistant Controllers (AC).

She further indicated that 12 individuals were promoted to Chief Superintendent, 10 to Superintendent, 32 to Deputy Superintendent, 22 to Assistant Superintendent I, and 13 to Assistant Superintendent III, respectively.

In a response on behalf of his colleagues, DC Smart Omonua expressed gratitude to the service’s leadership for the promotions, assuring that the officers would show their appreciation through dedicated service.
