The Federal Capital Territory Police command has said that 140 of its personnel were killed while on duty in the year 2024.
This was disclosed by the spokesperson of the command, Josephine Adeh in the command’s scorecard released on Wednesday, January 1, 2025.
Adeh also said that a total of N409,992,000 was recovered from criminals at different operations by the Nigeria Police Force in the year under review.
According to her, N36,850,000 was recovered from kidnapping suspects; N285,000,000 from fraud cases; N19,590,000 from burglary cases and N68,552,000 from armed robbery suspects.
She stated that 1,077 arrests were made following 1,426 cases which were reported to the FCT command throughout the year.
A total of 19 one chance victims were also rescued by the command across the Federal Capital Territory.
In addition, 68 different complaint were received against personnel of the FCT Police command’s Complaint Response Unit.
According to the report, 376 firearms, including 13 AK-47 magazines and 187 rounds of live ammunition, were recovered at various operation locations.
She said, “Building on the successes of 2024, the command will intensify community policing engagements, intelligence-led policing strategies, targeted clearance operations, and public enlightenment initiatives to address the evolving security demands of the FCT.”
