Operatives of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) have rescued two factory workers who were trapped in a diesel reservoir in the Ikosi area of Lagos State.
Politics Nigeria gathered that the operatives workedalongside officials of the Lagos State Fire Service to save the individuals who got trapped while working in the reservoir.
Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, the permanent secretary of LASEMA in a statement said the workers were trapped in the reservoir at about 10 am on Saturday, January 11.
According to Oke-Osanyintolu, the workers mistakenly fell into the reservoir while they were carrying out repair works on it.
He said investigations into the matter have shown that the second worker fell into the reservoir while he was trying to rescue his colleague who had accidentally fallen during the repair process.
“Both victims sustained severe conditions and were promptly transported to the hospital by the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS) after receiving first aid, including CPR.
“First aid (including CPR) were administered on the victims immediately after their rescue. Both individuals (adult males) were evacuated and transported to the hospital for further medical attention,” Oke-Osanyintolu said.
He further stated that the scene of the incident has been secured pending an assessment by some emergency responders.
