Armed bandits launched a deadly attack on a trailer transporting food items at Matashayi Zaki community along the Dansadau/Gusau road, resulting in the deaths of eight people and the abduction of several others.
According to reports, the assailants struck around 6:00 pm, shortly after military escorts had left the trailer behind.
The Dansadau/Gusau route is known for its security challenges, and no vehicle reportedly moves along the axis without military protection. However, sources indicate that military escorts do not wait for any vehicle that falls behind.
Additionally, it has been alleged that security personnel demand large sums of money from travelers seeking safe passage to Gusau or Dansadau, given the high-risk nature of the road.
One Ishiaku Muhammad saod the villagers were losing a lot due to the money they pay to the military escorts for security.
“We have no option, because we are afraid of the bandits, and the army authorities claimed they have installed a military station at Dansadau but there has been no positive effect,” he lamented.
News360 Nigeria reports that serious attacks by the bandits on Dansadau/Gusau road forced the Federal Government to establish a military station in Dansadau town to reduce the movement of the bandits.
But the military presence had not stopped the attacks.
