BREAKING: Aaron Ramsdale: Why Southampton Goalkeeper Wore Special Gloves vs Fulham

Aaron Ramsdale finally made his return in goal for Southampton after a spell on the sidelines with an injury.

Ramsdale has been out since breaking his finger on November 9 in their 2-0 loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The England international missed six games, during which Russell Martin was relieved of his duties as head coach. Former AS Roma boss Ivan Juric has since replaced him on an 18-month contract subject to work permit approval.

Why Aaron Ramsdale wore special gloves vs Fulham

Ramsdale returned to goal for their trip to West London to face Fulham. The former Arsenal shot-stopper was spotted wearing an unusual glove that had four fingers instead of the usual five.

TNT Sports has since explained that the glove is to protect the finger that had to be operated on.

How did Ramsdale perform with the gloves?

Despite the anomaly, Ramsdale made two magnificent saves to thwart Alex Iwobi and Harry Wilson’s efforts and help Southampton snap a four-game winless streak in all competitions.

The stalemate still leaves them rooted at the bottom of the table with six points, eight behind Leicester City in the last safe spot.

The Saints next play West Ham at home on Boxing Day before facing Crystal Palace away to end the year.
