Daniel Bwala challenged Peter Obi on Twitter, asking him to reveal his campaign revenue, especially in foreign exchange. Bwala underlined the significance of accountability and openness, citing Obi’s extensive international visits to gain support, especially from US, Canadian, and UK communities.
He invited prominent people to watch the challenge, including Utomi Pat, Aisha Yesufu, and Doyin Okupe, in the midst of accusations of violations made by the national treasurer of Obi and others.
Bwala’s request, devoid of insults, aimed at prompting Obi to respond honestly to concerns about his campaign earnings and expenditures.
The challenge emerged following Obi’s decision to declare his financial standing, highlighting the significance of transparency in political campaigns and the need for public figures to be held accountable for their financial activities.
He said: “@PeterObi I challenge you in the spirit of accountability to also disclose your campaign earnings or lack thereof in forex currencies. You travelled the world to source for support and you got overwhelming commitment in that regard from cities in the US, Canada, UK etc.
I also call on @UtomiPat , @AishaYesufu @doyinokupe to be witnesses to this challenge since your national treasurer and others are alleging infractions.
No insult, but honest request in response to your decision to declare your campaign earnings and expenditure.
