The Nigeria Police Force recently paraded Ekhorutomuen Destiny for spreading false information and inciting violence through social media. According to the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, Destiny’s posts included harmful remarks about President Bola Tinubu.
Speaking in a video shared by Symfoni TV, Muyiwa disclosed that one of Destiny’s posts targeted leaders in Enugu for receiving President Tinubu during his recent visit. He explained that Destiny’s comments included a call for harm against the president.
Speaking further, the police emphasized that freedom of expression must be exercised responsibly and within the limits of the law. He also warned the public against using social media to spread false or harmful information, as it poses a threat to national peace and security.
In Adejobi’s words: “The president went to Enugu, you abused the leaders in Enugu for receiving the president that somebody they should put nails on the chair for so that the president can die (sic). If you want to call the attention of the government to incidents and things you know you are not comfortable with, is it to call for the death of Mr President?”
