Human rights activist and social commentator, Comrade Obiora Omeje, also known as Zigma, has commended the governor of Enugu State, Dr Peter Ndubisi Mbah, for tangible actions through his projects, in contrast to the rhetoric often seen among political leaders.
According to Omeje, Governor Mbah has opted for fewer words, but his actions resonate loudly with the full commencement of the Abakpa-Ugwogo-Opi-Nsukka road.
“I am from that zone and understand the immense value this project will bring to social and economic activities. The movement of people and goods will now be quicker and more convenient,” he stated.
As a senior fellow at THE ABUJA SCHOOL OF SOCIAL AND POLITICAL THOUGHTS, Zigma says he views this development as a significant step towards attracting infrastructure and addressing food insecurity.
He further noted that the road’s new design eliminates blind spots that previously offered cover to criminals, enhancing security by allowing for quicker movement with fewer bottlenecks that could expose commuters to danger.
Omeje pointed out that with the commencement of the project, its completion will surely bring a breath of fresh air to the local populace.
“He encouraged the governor to stay focused on serving the people, emphasising that ultimately, citizens will respond based on the governor’s ability to impress them through his actions.
“I have always advised our elected leaders to heed the aspirations of the people. When it’s time for the elections, their performance will speak for them. That is what the people want to see,” he concluded.
