
The family of Ayo Adebanjo, the leader of the Afenifere group has announced a date for his funeral.
In a statement issued on Monday, February 24, and signed by Ms Ayotunde Ayo-Adebanjo, Mrs Adeola Azeez, and Mr Obafemi Ayo-Adebanjo, the late elder statesman would be laid to rest on May 3, 2025.
According to the statement, Pa Adebanjo would be buried in his hometown, Ijebu Ode, Ogun State.
Funeral rites and proceedings for the Yourba leader will commence with a Day of Tributes/ Service of Song at Harbour Point, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The Adebanjo family said the burial ceremony is scheduled for Friday and would begin with the Wake at the late PANDEF leader’s Country Home in Isanya Ogbo, ljebu Ode, Ogun state.
This would be followed by the interment and entertainment of guests at his country home and a thanksgiving service on May 4 at St Phillips Anglican Church, lsanya Ogbo, ljebu Ode, Ogun state by 10 am.
Friends and associates of the late Afenifere leader and his family members have been urged to support the Adebanjo’s with prayers for a successful ceremony.
The statement said, “We covet your prayers for the family and your professional support as we continue with preparations to give him a most befitting burial. We also look forward to your esteemed presence at all the events. Please accept the assurances of our highest regards.”
