Delta State governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, on Tuesday, met with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, in what marks his first official visit to Aso Rock Presidential Villa since his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Governor Oborevwori arrived at the State House around 3:30pm and was received by senior government officials before proceeding to a closed-door meeting with the President.
Although details of the meeting were not immediately disclosed, the visit is widely seen as a formal consolidation of his recent political realignment and a signal of closer ties with the APC-led federal government.
Oborevwori’s defection, which took place last week, sent shockwaves across the political landscape in Delta State, where the PDP has traditionally held sway.
His move is considered a major boost for the APC as it seeks to expand its influence in the South-South region.
