BREAKING: After Rejecting $200,000 Bribe in Landmark Ceremony, ACP Daniel Amah Converts to Islam

After refusing to take a $200,000 bribe from suspects in an armed robbery, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Daniel Amah made news once more, this time for his conversion to Islam. The momentous occasion, where Amah accepted Islam and assumed the name Muhammad, was held Tuesday at the palace of Muhammad Sanusi II, the Emir of Kano.

The conversion ceremony was marked by the Emir’s warm welcome and a special prayer for Amah to become a distinguished Muslim. According To VANGUARD, The Emir emphasized the importance of embracing the five pillars of Islam faith in Allah, daily prayers, fasting during Ramadan, pilgrimage to Mecca, and charity and urged Amah to uphold strong moral values and maintain respect for his family, regardless of their faith.

Amah had already earned national acclaim in April 2022 when, while serving as the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Nasarawa Local Government Area in Kano State, he rejected a bribe from armed robbery suspects. These criminals had been involved in a heist that saw them steal over N300 million, including $750,000 from a Bureau De Change operator. His rejection of the bribe was widely celebrated as an act of integrity in a profession often marred by corruption.

In recognition of his exemplary behavior, Amah was promoted to the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police in November 2022. His reputation for honesty and ethical conduct also earned him the prestigious Public Service Integrity Award, which was presented to him by former President Muhammadu Buhari, following a recommendation by the Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).

ACP Daniel Amah’s story is a remarkable one of personal transformation, showcasing both his commitment to integrity and his newfound faith. His journey continues to inspire many within the police force and beyond, illustrating the power of ethical leadership and the potential for change.
