BREAKING: After serving under Buhari, Akpabio says Nigeria was on ‘life support’ under ex-president

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has revealed that Nigeria was on “life support” when President Bola Tinubu assumed office, citing the dire economic situation inherited from former President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.

Speaking at the 2024 Constituency Briefing and Empowerment Programme in Ikot Ekpene, Akpabio revealed the challenges President Tinubu faced, quoting a conversation where Tinubu admitted to the severity of the economic crisis.

Akpabio expressed optimism about the president’s ongoing economic reforms, acknowledging that although the changes may be painful, they are necessary for the country’s sustainable growth.

He encouraged Nigerians, particularly those in Akwa Ibom, to continue supporting the president and his efforts for a better future.

In addition, Akpabio urged recipients of the empowerment scheme to use their tools to uplift their families rather than sell them.

Akpabio, 62, a former governor of Akwa Ibom state, served as the minister of Niger Delta affairs under the Buhari administration.
