BREAKING: Ahead of inauguration, Abubakar Imam International Airport, Minna renamed after Pres. Bola Tinubu

In anticipation of the President’s inauguration on March 11, the Niger State Government says it has renamed the Dr. Abubakar Imam International Airport in Minna as the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport.

Dr. Isah Adamu, the Niger State’s Special Adviser on Governance and Reform, announced this while providing an update on the president’s visit to Minna at a media briefing.

According to him, the president will lay the foundation for the Hajj Terminal during his visit, launch the agricultural transformation initiative, and officially rename the Dr. Abubakar Imam International Airport.

The airport, which was initially a federal government effort, suffered obstacles in encouraging the present administration to take charge to assure its accelerated completion after consulting with necessary authorities, according to state Commissioner of Information Binta Mamman.

“The terminal is now ready for commissioning, offering an alternative to the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport given the state’s proximity to the nation’s capital,” Mamman said.

She disclosed that other projects to be inaugurated by the president include various categories of agricultural mechanized equipment procured by the current government, which aligns with the shared goal of achieving food security and supporting the national agendas of both the federal and state governments.

The equipment includes provisions for an agro-processing free zone and irrigation facilities which would enhance agricultural productivity within the state.
